Islamic tradition calls for clothing that retain the modesty for the woman. Thus, apparel that cover a woman's shape from head to toe are preferred by Muslim women.

Traditionally, Muslim woman have worn plain and dark, long, loose clothing accompanied by a head scarf accordingly that just their face, or in most cases only the eye lids, are visible. However, throughout the years, the urge to become popular without compromising on their modesty has made Muslim women demand stylish clothes. Model Designers from across the world have responded and designed Islamic clothing that are popular, have got a western gaze and yet conform to the Islamic tradition and customs.

Trends into Islamic Attire The urge to become stylish without compromising with their religious values has made Muslim women gaze out for clothing that gaze elegant, and are beautifully designed and gorgeous at the same time. The standard plain coloured Islamic outfits have given way to coloured Hijabs and their matching jilbabs. Not just this, the designers have started using embroidery, motifs, beads and other material to decorate such clothing, including Hijabs and Abayas. The attractively designed Islamic apparel has caught the attention of non Muslim lady also. International sports goods company, Nike, has introduced an athletic jilbab to be worn by woman while playing volleyball.

Islamic Outfits: Types Muslim men and female put on outfits that cover their shape and are modest. Some for the major types of Islamic clothes are:

1. The Abaya is a loose black color robe worn along having a niqab or a face veil, covering the lower part of the face (up to the eyes). Long black color gloves are usually worn to cover the hands underneath the Abaya. 2. The Boshiya is an Islamic full dark-colored veil, which is meant to cover the face completely including the eyes. 3. The Burqua is a loose outer clothes, usually accompanied by a veil that has holes for the eyes. It's worn over one's regular clothing, such as a salwar kameez. 4. The Chador is a head covering used by Muslim woman. 5. The Hijab is a headscarf that conceals the hair and neck, and usually has a veil that handles the face. 6. Thejilbab essentially covers the entire body besides for the face, hand, feet and head. However, it is teamed up with a scarf to cover the head. 7. The Niqab protects the lower an element of a person's face. 8. The Bisht and Kaftan are cloaks for Muslim men. 9. The Keffiyeh or Ghutra is a standard headdress worn by Muslim men.
